2-Fluoromethamphetamine

2-Fluoromethamphetamine (2-FMA) is a stimulant in the amphetamine family that has appeared as a designer drug. It is the fluorinated version of methamphetamine and a close isomer of 3-FMA and 4-FMA. Unlike many stimulants, it does not strongly activate serotonin receptors. Its main action is believed to be the blockade of norepinephrine reuptake, which may produce stimulating effects—with possibly less euphoria than some other amphetamines.

Some people have discussed 2-FMA as a study or productivity aid, similar to lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) or dextroamphetamine, though evidence is limited.

Legally, 2-FMA is controlled in several countries. Canada has treated it as an illegal analogue of methamphetamine since 1996. Germany lists it as Anlage I (a Schedule I narcotic) since 2014, making manufacture, possession, import/export, sale, or procurement illegal without a license and punishable by fines or up to five years in prison. China (since 2015) and Ukraine (since 2019) also regulate it. In the United States, it is not scheduled, but could be prosecuted under the Federal Analogue Act because of its similarity to methamphetamine.
