Polba
Polba is a village in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, India. It is part of the Polba Dadpur community development block in the Chinsurah subdivision. The area sits on flat, fertile plains that are part of the Gangetic Delta. Polba has a police station that covers part of the Polba Dadpur block.
As of the 2011 census, Polba had 6,626 residents (about 3,333 males and 3,293 females), with 628 children under six years old. There were 4,643 literates, roughly 77% of people over six years old. The village lies at the junction of Pandua-Bandel Road, Mogra-Polba Road, and Polba-Alinagar Road.
Education and health
Polba Mahavidyalaya, a general degree college established in 2005 and affiliated with the University of Burdwan, offers honors courses in Bengali, English, Sanskrit, history and philosophy. There is a rural hospital in Polba with 30 beds.
