Pocket Symphony
Pocket Symphony is the fourth studio album by the French electronic duo Air. It was released on March 5, 2007, by Virgin Records. The album features guest contributions from Jarvis Cocker and Neil Hannon. Air also experiments with Japanese instruments like the koto and shamisen, learned from an Okinawan master, though traditional instruments still play an important role. The cover art is by Xavier Veilhan.
Pocket Symphony opened at number 40 on the US Billboard 200, selling about 17,000 copies in its first week. By February 2012, US sales reached around 77,000 copies. The term pocket symphony was popularized by English journalist Derek Taylor to describe the Beach Boys’ Good Vibrations.
All tracks are written by Air members JB Dunckel and Nicolas Godin, with lyrics on One Hell of a Party by Jarvis Cocker and lyrics on Somewhere Between Waking and Sleeping by Neil Hannon and Cocker. Credits are taken from the album’s liner notes.
