Plateau Systems is a talent management software company based in Arlington, Virginia, with about 350 employees and offices worldwide in the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific. It was founded in 1996 by Paul Sparta and Brad Cooper, who both remained in leadership roles. The company developed one of the industry’s first Learning Management Systems (LMS) to help HR departments manage and deliver training. Its customers include General Electric, Bank of America, the IRS, and Capital One. In 2000, Plateau introduced an integrated J2EE-based talent management platform that linked learning with employee performance to show how goals aligned with company objectives. In 2007, Plateau acquired Nuvosoft and integrated its compensation management features into the platform. On April 26, 2011, Plateau announced it would be acquired by SuccessFactors for $145 million in cash plus $145 million in stock.
