Ricky Meléndez
Ricky Meléndez (born Ricardo Omar Meléndez Saurí on November 22, 1967, in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican singer, lawyer, and actor. Raised in Guaynabo, he joined the boy band Menudo at age nine and was one of the original five, joined by his brothers Carlos and Oscar, and Fernando and Nefty Salaberry; Edgardo Díaz is their cousin. As a member of Menudo, he acted in two films and sang lead on songs like "Y Yo No Bailo," "Amor en Bicicleta," and "Cámbiale Las Pilas." He retired from Menudo in 1984 at the age of 16, the longest-serving member, and his place was filled by Ricky Martin. His final Menudo concert was in Caguas on September 16, 1984.
After leaving Menudo, he explored business ventures, including a shop in Plaza Las Américas in San Juan, and studied law. He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico Law School in 1995 and now practices corporate and real estate law at Pietrantoni Mendez & Alvarez LLC. He also has a B.A. in broadcasting from the University of Central Florida. He is married to Miriam "Muñeca" Calderín and has a son and a daughter.
In 1998, he joined former Menudo members Rene Farrait, Johnny Lozada, Ray Reyes, Charlie Masso, and Miguel Cancel to form El Reencuentro, which toured worldwide. In 2020, he was portrayed by Marcelo Otano and Eugenio Rivera in the Amazon Prime Video series Subete A Mi Moto, based on Menudo.
