Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad

The Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad (PIR) was a small Class III short-line railroad in southwest Pennsylvania. It ran about 42 miles of track on the Chartiers Branch, serving McKees Rocks, Bridgeville, Canonsburg, and Washington. The line used standard gauge track (4 ft 8 1⁄2 in, 1,435 mm).

PIR operated from 1996 until 2000. It was owned by RailTex, which bought the line from Conrail in 1996. In 2000, after RailTex was acquired by RailAmerica, the railroad was sold to the Ohio Central Railroad System and renamed the Pittsburgh and Ohio Central Railroad. The line is now owned by Genesee & Wyoming.
