Piazza Verdi, Palermo
Piazza Verdi, also known as Piazza Massimo, is a square in Palermo, Sicily. In its center stands Teatro Massimo, Italy’s largest opera house and the third-largest in Europe after the Paris Opera and Vienna’s State Opera. The square is in the heart of the city, near Via Maqueda, in the Seralcadio quarter of Palermo’s historic center. It was created in the 19th century to host Palermo’s new opera house.
