People's Park (Chinese: 人民公园; pinyin: Rénmín Gōngyuán) is a public park in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, China. It sits west of Erqi Road in the city center. Built in 1951 and opened on August 1, 1952, it was Zhengzhou’s first park. The park’s west and south areas honor people who died during the Republican era. Temples and monuments are placed around the park corners. The park covers about 30.14 hectares, including 3.37 hectares of water and 25.41 hectares of green space. The Hugong Temple is the park’s landmark and faces the south gate. Behind the temple are several artificial lakes, with Qingnian Lake on the western side containing two islands. The eastern bank has a boat route. The park also functions as a theme park, with rides such as Roller Rush, Raving Mouse, a Ferris wheel, and a skating rink. Every year the Festival Lantern exhibition is held here. A lotus fountain sits at the park’s center, surrounded by formal gardens with Chinese roses and pines. The Spring Garden and Autumn Garden are in the eastern part and are connected by a long road. Nearby greenhouses grow traditional Chinese flowers that bloom in spring and autumn.
