Tony Roig (Anton Ambrose Roig) was an American baseball infielder and scout. Born December 23, 1928, in New Orleans, he died October 20, 2010, in Liberty Lake, Washington. He played in Major League Baseball for the Washington Senators from 1953 to 1956, appearing in 76 games and batting .212 with 39 hits, 11 RBIs, 11 runs, and no home runs. He was a versatile player, mainly a shortstop who could also handle second and third base.

Roig spent more than five decades in professional baseball, including a standout 1960 season with the Spokane Indians of the Pacific Coast League, where he was the team’s MVP and once played every position in a single game. He later played in Japan from 1963 to 1968 for the Nishitetsu Lions and Kintetsu Buffaloes, hitting 126 home runs and driving in 418 runs with a .255 average.

After his playing days, Roig became a manager and a long-time scout/instructor for MLB teams, including the Milwaukee Brewers, California Angels, and Philadelphia Phillies. He began his pro career as a pitcher in 1948 with the Phillies before moving to the infield. Tony Roig passed away at age 81 in Liberty Lake, Washington.
