Nuora (Lena)
Nuora, also known as Strekalovka, is a small river in the Sakha (Yakutia) region of Russia. It is 69 kilometers long and drains about 1,110 square kilometers. The Nuora is a left tributary of the Lena River and flows through Zhigansky District to meet the Lena near Zhigansk, about 754 kilometers from the Lena’s mouth.
The river starts in a group of lakes in the northern Central Yakutian Lowland, the largest being Lake Taryn. The Nuora forms where two small rivers join: Aly-Nuora (20 km) and Bestyakh-Nuora (28 km). It flows roughly northeast with meanders in the floodplain south of the Khoruongka.
The Nuora is fed by rain and snow. It freezes in mid-October and remains iced over until late May or early June. Its main tributaries are Bestyakh-Nuora (right, 28 km) and Povarnya (left, 30 km).
