Pennsylvania Gravity Railroad

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

The Pennsylvania Gravity Railroad was a 47-mile gravity-powered railroad built in 1850 to haul anthracite coal in Pennsylvania to the Delaware and Hudson Canal. In 1885, it was replaced by the Erie and Wyoming Valley Railroad. A historical marker commemorates the line, and Old Gravity Road and the village of Gravity were named after it.
