Sunflower (Post Malone and Swae Lee song)
Sunflower is a 2018 song by Post Malone and Swae Lee. It was released on October 18, 2018, as part of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack and later appeared on Post Malone’s album Hollywood’s Bleeding (2019). The track blends dream pop, hip-hop, and R&B, lasts 2 minutes and 38 seconds, and was written by Post Malone, Swae Lee, and other collaborators, with production by Carter Lang and Louis Bell. An official remix features Nicky Jam and Prince Royce.
The song was praised by critics and became a major hit, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and staying in the top 10 for 33 weeks. It also topped charts in Australia, Canada, Malaysia, and New Zealand, and appeared in the top 10 in many other countries. In the US, Sunflower earned double diamond certification from the RIAA and diamond status in Canada, Australia, and Mexico; it was the first song to reach 20x platinum in the US (finalized in 2024). It was one of the top-selling R&B songs of the 2010s in the US and reached number 20 on the Billboard Global 200 in 2023.
Two music videos helped its fame: a lyric video released with animated Spider-Verse imagery that has billions of views, and an official live-action video released in January 2019. The song earned Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Malone announced his involvement with the Spider-Man project on October 2, 2018, and Swae Lee joined the track a couple of weeks later.
