Paul Rehak
Paul Rehak (March 8, 1954 – June 5, 2004) was an American archaeologist. His work covered the study of prehistoric and Classical Greece and Imperial Rome.
He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan, earning a BA cum laude in Classics and Archaeology in 1976. He earned an MA from Bryn Mawr College in 1980, writing about Mycenaean shrines under Machteld Mellink, and a PhD in 1985 on Roman sculpture under Brunilde Ridgway.
Rehak taught at the College of Wooster, the American University of Paris, Loyola University Chicago, and Duke University. At Duke, he was known for his advocacy of gay and lesbian rights.
In March 2004, the University of Kansas promoted him to associate professor. He died in June 2004 from heart attack complications after a long struggle with AIDS.
