Pak Jaesam
Park Jaesam (April 10, 1933 – June 8, 1997) was a South Korean poet. He was born in Japan on April 10, 1933, and later became a well-known Korean writer. He attended Korea University but did not graduate. He worked as a reporter for Daehan-Ilbo and as an editor at Hyundai Munhak-sa. In the 1960s he joined the Sahwajip literary club with writers such as Park Huijin and Lee Seonggyo. He helped start the bimonthly Han Kyorerh Literature in 1993 and served as Secretary General of the Korean Poets’ Association. His first published poem, "In the Water of the River" (Gangmureseo), appeared in Contemporary Literature in 1955, on the recommendation of Seo Jeongju; that same year his sijo "Providence" (Seomni) appeared in Providence, on the recommendation of Yoo Chiwan. Park Jaesam died on June 8, 1997, at age 64.
