Padraig O'Connor

Pádraig O'Connor is a former Irish footballer from Athlone who played as a midfielder in the League of Ireland during the 1970s and 1980s. He played for St Patrick's Athletic, Athlone Town, and Bohemians, with his main spell at Bohemians in the 1970s. He helped Bohemians win two league titles, making 147 league appearances and scoring 11 goals, and he played 14 European games for the club, scoring once in the European Cup. He is the brother of Turlough O'Connor and Michael O'Connor. He won the first PFAI Players' Player of the Year award in the 1980–81 season. He served as player-manager of Bohemians for the 1989–90 season after Billy Young left, and had previously managed Athlone Town. O'Connor shared a testimonial with Tom Conway in May 1985. In 2009, he became a Gaelic football coach, co-managing the Na Fianna under-15 team.
