Enrico Balbo

Enrico Balbo is an Italian Formula One aerodynamicist and the head of aerodynamics at Red Bull Racing. He studied aerospace engineering at the Politecnico di Torino, completed postgraduate studies at ISAE-Supaero in Toulouse, and spent a short period at Airbus. He later studied aerodynamics at the University of Southampton. Balbo began his career at Fondtech, helping test and develop Renault F1 cars that won the titles in 2005 and 2006. He joined Williams in 2006, worked as a Trackside Aerodynamicist from 2008 to 2010, and then became Aerodynamics Team Leader, where he helped develop Williams’s double diffuser on the FW29. In 2013 he moved to Mercedes as Future Car Aerodynamic Group Leader, contributing to car designs from 2014 to 2018. He joined Red Bull Racing in 2018 as Principal Aerodynamicist, was promoted to head of aerodynamic development in 2020, and became Head of Aerodynamics in 2021. He has overseen the design of Red Bull’s championship-winning cars, including the RB16B, RB18 and RB19.
