Samuel Middiman
Samuel Middiman (1750–1831) was a British engraver. He first showed landscape drawings with the Incorporated Society of Artists in 1772 and later at the Royal Academy in 1780. He learned engraving from William Byrne and is said to have also been taught by William Woollett. Middiman worked for John Boydell for several years and did engravings for the Shakespeare Gallery. He was known for landscape engravings, influenced by Woollett and others. He produced many engravings after famous artists, and did some original work as well. He died on 20 December 1831 in London (Cirencester Place), aged about 80. A collection of his engravings in different states is in the British Museum.
