Le Château-d'Oléron
Le Château-d'Oléron is a town on the island of Oléron in southwestern France. It is part of the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The area covers about 116 square kilometers and has around 4,400 residents (2023). The town is surrounded by historic fortifications built as bastion forts, similar to star forts. Before 1962, it was known simply as Le Château.
