Pacifico (singer)
Pacifico is the stage name of Luigi De Crescenzo, born March 5, 1964, in Milan, Italy. He is a singer-songwriter, composer and musician. His father is from Naples and his mother from Salerno. He started his first band, La Goccia, at 16. He studied political science and explored rock, jazz and fusion. In 1989 he formed the group Rossomaltese with Luca Gemma, serving as composer and guitarist. After Rossomaltese split, he worked with director Roberta Torre, composing the score for the film South Side Story and music for the play Invece che all’una alle due. In 2000 he adopted the name Pacifico and released his solo debut album Pacifico in 2001. In 2004 he competed in the Sanremo Music Festival with the song Solo un sogno. Later he split his time between making his own music and writing music for others, including opening acts for Kings of Convenience, Luca Carboni and Cousteau. He has written songs for artists such as Adriano Celentano, Andrea Bocelli, Gianna Nannini, Marco Mengoni, Antonello Venditti, Malika Ayane, Zucchero Fornaciari and Ornella Vanoni.
