Ousmane Farota

Ousmane Farota (6 December 1964 – 26 March 2023) was a Malian footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent most of his club career with Stade Malien, after starting with AS Real Bamako (1982–1986) and later playing for Stade Malien (1990–1998). For the Mali national team, he earned 20 caps between 1988 and 1997. Farota was a key figure for Mali in the late 1980s and early 1990s and played in the 1994 African Cup of Nations, where he was named the tournament’s outstanding goalkeeper. He passed away on 26 March 2023 at the age of 58.
