The 45th staging of Ireland's premier knockout Gaelic football competition. Kerry were the All-Ireland champions (their 10th title), captained by Con Brosnan. The runners-up were Kildare, captained by Mick Walsh. Provincial champions were: Munster – Kerry; Leinster – Kildare; Ulster – Cavan; Connacht – Mayo. There was an objection after the final, and the game was awarded to Antrim.
