Oscar Colás
Oscar Colás is a Cuban outfielder who is currently a free agent. He bats and throws left-handed and was born on September 17, 1998, in Havana, Cuba.
Colás began his pro career in Cuba and joined the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in Japan in 2017 as a developmental player. He made his Nippon Professional Baseball debut in 2019 with the Hawks, hitting a home run in his first Pacific League plate appearance and helping the team win the Japan Series that year. In 2019 he played seven games in the league, hitting .278 with 1 home run and 2 RBIs.
In 2020, Colás defected from Cuba and became a free agent. He signed with the Chicago White Sox in January 2022 for a $2.7 million bonus, giving up pitching to focus on outfield. That year he played in the White Sox’ minor league system, accumulating a strong tally: .314/.371/.524 with 23 home runs and 79 RBIs in 117 games across three levels.
Colás earned a spot on the White Sox Opening Day roster in 2023 and made his MLB debut on March 30, 2023. He hit .216 with 5 home runs and 19 RBIs in 245 at-bats that season, mostly as an outfielder. In 2024 he began in Triple-A Charlotte and appeared in 13 MLB games for Chicago, hitting .273 with 4 RBIs.
In March 2025 he was designated for assignment, cleared waivers, and was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte. He played for Charlotte and Birmingham that year, posting a .163/.245/.255 line with 1 home run and 12 RBIs, and was released by the White Sox on May 24, 2025. On May 27, 2025, Colás signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels and played for the Double-A Rocket City Trash Pandas, hitting .221 with 14 home runs and 46 RBIs. He elected free agency after the season on November 6, 2025.
