Serruria balanocephala
Serruria balanocephala, the acorn spiderhead, is a flowering shrub in the protea family. It grows in the Western Cape of South Africa, mainly on the Langeberg range between Montagu and Swellendam. The plant grows upright to about 1 meter tall and flowers from late August to December. It prefers northern slopes at elevations around 600–650 meters. The pollen-bearing buds are acorn-shaped, which gives the plant its name. In Afrikaans it is called akkerspinnekopbos. Its conservation status is Least Concern.
