Ivory Coast beat Nigeria 2-1 in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final to win the title. The match was on February 11, 2024, at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan. Nigeria led 1-0 with a goal from William Troost-Ekong in the 38th minute, but Ivory Coast turned it around with Franck Kessié’s goal in the 62nd minute and Sébastien Haller’s in the 81st. Simon Adingra was named Man of the Match for assisting both goals. Attendance was 57,094 and the weather was partly cloudy at 28 C. As hosts, Ivory Coast won their third AFCON title and were the first host nation to win since Egypt in 2006. The Ivorians had a dramatic run to the final and celebrated in Abidjan after the win.
