Om Prakash Chibber (1919–1998) was a famous Indian film actor known for his character roles in Hindi cinema. He was born in Jammu during the British Raj and loved theatre, music, and films from a young age. He even acted as Sita in the Jammu Ramlila and began learning classical music at twelve.

He joined All India Radio in 1937 as Fateh Din and became popular in Punjab. His big break came after a wedding when filmmaker Dalsukh Pancholi saw him and cast him in Daasi. That film made him famous, even though he was paid only 80 rupees. He also acted in other Pancholi films like Dhamki and Aayee Bahar.

After the Partition of India, Om Prakash moved to Delhi and then Bombay (now Mumbai). Director Baldev Raj Chopra encouraged him to pursue acting, recognizing his talent. He acted with many top stars of the time, including Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Ashok Kumar, and Kishore Kumar. Over about four decades, he appeared in around 307 films and developed a distinctive style as a versatile actor who could do both comedy and drama.

Some of his best-known films are Dus Lakh (1966), Howrah Bridge (1958), Padosan (1968), Gopi (1970), Chupke Chupke (1975), Gol Maal (1979), Namak Halaal (1982), Sharaabi (1984), and Chameli Ki Shaadi. He was also appreciated for his mature performances in films like Gopi, where his work impressed even the legendary Dilip Kumar.

Outside acting, Om Prakash produced films such as Jahanaara, Jahan Ara, and Gateway of India. He remained involved in theatre, music, radio, and cinema throughout his life.

Om Prakash died in Mumbai in 1998 after suffering heart trouble at home and in the hospital. He left behind a lasting legacy as a beloved, prolific actor who enriched Indian cinema with his many roles.
