Okpoma is the headquarters of the Yala Local Government Area in Cross River State, Nigeria. It includes communities such as Olachor, Oba, Abachor, Itega Okpame, Okpudu, Itega Okpudu, Idiku, Ijama, Adeni, Iboko, and more. The town has many salt ponds that are important in Yala history. The Yala people settled here after discovering underground water with a high salt content, which supports small-scale salt production. Salt is mined locally. Rice is grown commercially in Adeni and Ijama, near Ishiaya in Ogoja LGA.
