James Lew

James Lew was born James Jene Fae Lew on September 6, 1952, in Escalon, California, and grew up in South Los Angeles. He is an American martial artist, stunt performer, and actor. He has appeared in about 80 films and TV shows, and worked as a stunt coordinator or double on about 46 projects. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Luke Cage.

Lew is of Chinese descent. He began practicing martial arts at age 14, studying Tang Soo Do and Choy Li Fut, and later trained in Bak Mei Pai, Five Animals kung fu, Tae Kwon Do, Jeet Kune Do, Hapkido, boxing, and submission grappling. In the 1970s, he co-founded the Sil Lung Kung Fu demo team with Al Leong and Douglas Lim Wong, winning several championships in martial arts forms.

One of his early film roles was as a guard in The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976). He also appeared in Killpoint. In 2017, he acted in Star Raiders: The Adventures of Saber Raine.

Lew was married to Pamela Gidley from 2005 to 2008, and married Jordanna Alex Potter in 2014. He is the stepfather of actor Ryan Potter, who plays Gar Logan/Beast Boy on Titans.
