Ochradenus socotranus
Ochradenus socotranus is a shrub in the Resedaceae family. It grows only on the islands of Socotra and Samhah in Yemen’s Socotra Archipelago, in dry, rocky slopes at 10–700 meters above sea level. The species is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
Scientific name: Ochradenus socotranus A.G.Mill. (2004)
Ochradenus socotranus is closely related to Ochradenus arabicus and Ochradenus baccatus, from the Arabian Peninsula and nearby regions. It is dioecious, meaning individual plants are male or female, like O. arabicus. It differs from O. arabicus by having fleshy fruits and dull seeds, while O. baccatus has hermaphrodite flowers and rugose seeds.
