Nunziante Ippolito
Nunziante Ippolito (born March 24, 1796, in Naples; died 1851 in Naples) was an Italian physician and anatomist. He studied in Naples and worked at the Ospedale degli Incurabili, one of the city’s most important hospitals at the time. He also worked at Pellegrini Hospital and at the University of Naples. Ippolito died in 1851. Velpeau later noted that Ippolito was among the first to use a ligature of the vertebral artery and to describe how to locate it.
