18th Visual Effects Society Awards
The 18th Visual Effects Society Awards were held on January 29, 2020, after nominations were announced on January 7, 2020. The Lion King won Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature, while The Mandalorian won Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode for “Chapter 2: The Child.” The ceremony also honored industry veterans with a Lifetime Achievement Award and awarded the VES Visionary Award for Creative Excellence. Other projects recognized for their visual effects included The Irishman, Missing Link, Alita: Battle Angel, Toy Story 4, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Chernobyl, Stranger Things, Cyberpunk 2077, and Game of Thrones, among others. The awards celebrate the teams behind the impressive visual effects in film and television.
