Arimaddana
Arimaddana, also known as Arimardanna Pura, is the ancient name for the city of Bagan in Myanmar. It means “City that Tramples on Enemies.” Burmese chronicles disagree on when it was founded, giving dates such as 156 CE (Yazawin Kyaw), 190 CE (Zatadawbon Yazawin), and 107 CE (Maha Yazawin and Hmannan Yazawin). Modern evidence indicates the Pagan area was first settled in the mid-7th century CE. When translated from the Burmese calendar, the traditional foundation date is often shown as Sunday, 22 March 750 CE.
