No. 49 Squadron IAF
No. 49 Squadron, the Paraspears, is a transport unit of the Indian Air Force under the Eastern Air Command. Based at Jorhat, it carries out air, land and airdrop missions to deploy troops, equipment and supplies, and can support or augment special operations when needed. The squadron was formed on 2 February 1960 at Barrackpore and moved to its current base in May 1986. It flies the AN-32 transport aircraft. Motto: Dhairya Vijayate — Bold will be victorious.
