Nicobar scops owl (Otus alius) is a small owl found only in the Nicobar Islands of India, mainly Great Nicobar Island (and possibly Little Nicobar). It lives in tropical moist lowland forests. Its conservation status is Near Threatened by the IUCN, with uncertain numbers, and it is thought to be rare or endangered. It was first described by Pamela C. Rasmussen in 1998. Very little is known about its biology, but it has been observed feeding on spiders, beetles, and geckos.
