Nicestupidplayground
Nicestupidplayground (NSP), also known as Nice Stupid Playground, is a Malaysian indie rock band from Sarawak, Borneo. They formed in 1992 and are fronted by Charles Rossem, with John Boniface, Abdul Aziz Sahal, and Charles Arthur as members at different times. Other former members include Bendy Ismardy, Winelfie Alwi, and Ricky Anthony.
They released music mainly with the Positive Tone label and also self-released material. Their first full-length album, My Life Is My Parents' Biggest Television, came out in 2000 on Positive Tone, with the single Stereogirl. In 2006 they self-released another full-length album.
Their biggest hit is Bedroom Window, from the Boys & Girls 1+1=3 compilation. The song won several awards and was used in the film Chinese Box.
Influenced by early 1980s British rock—The Cure, The Smiths, and The Stone Roses—NSP signed with Positive Tone in 1996. Bedroom Window helped the compilation win awards and gain wider recognition. After being dropped by Positive Tone in 2003, the band continued to tour occasionally and connected with fans around the release of A Beautiful Life.
