Pheucticus
Pheucticus is a small group of grosbeaks in the cardinal family, containing six species. The genus was named by German naturalist Ludwig Reichenbach in 1850, and its type species is the black-backed grosbeak. The name comes from the Ancient Greek pheuktikos, meaning shy or inclined to avoid others. A well-known member is the Rose-breasted grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus).
