Newark Adriatics

The Newark Adriatics, also known as the Adriatic Base Ball Club of Newark, were an early Newark baseball team. They were members of the National Association of Base Ball Players (NABBP) before the Civil War, playing in the 1858–1861 seasons. Their first recorded game came in September 1857, when they played the Union Club of Morrisania (now in the Bronx). That 1857 match is the only listed Newark Adriatics game against a club outside modern New York City and the only listed game against a non-member club. All listed Newark Adriatics games come from Marshall Wright’s 2000 study of the NABBP, The National Association of Base Ball Players, 1857–1870.
