Aquila Basket Trento
Aquila Basket Trento, often known as Dolomiti Energia Trento for sponsorship, is a professional basketball team from Trento in the Trentino region of Italy. The club was founded in 1995 when two local teams merged and has risen from the seventh division to Italy’s top league, the LBA, by 2014. They play home games at PalaTrento, a venue that seats 4,360, and wear white and black.
Leadership and ownership include President Luigi Longhi, head coach Massimo Cancellieri, team manager Andrea Nardelli, and the club’s ownership by Aquila Basket Trento 2013 S.R.L.
Key milestones: The team moved up through the lower divisions and earned promotion to Serie A in the 2013–14 season. In their first top-flight year they finished strongly and soon became playoff contenders. They reached the EuroCup semi-finals in 2015–16. In the 2016–17 season they reached the Italian League Finals for the first time, defeating Olimpia Milano in the semi-finals, and then competed in the finals the following year. In 2017–18 they again advanced to the finals, finishing runner-up to Olimpia Milano. The club has grown into a regular presence in Italian basketball and competes in the LBA in the 2024–25 season. As with many clubs in Italy, it has a sponsorship-linked name, Dolomiti Energia Trento.
