Neil Gibson (footballer, born 1979)
Neil David Gibson (born 11 October 1979) is a Welsh football manager and former midfielder who is the manager of Altrincham. He was born in St Asaph, Wales.
Playing career
Gibson began his career with Tranmere Rovers, making one first-team appearance between 1997 and 2000. He later played for Rhyl, Sheffield Wednesday, and Southport (28 appearances, 1 goal), then Halesowen Town, Leigh RMI, and Prestatyn Town (112 appearances, 14 goals). He also earned three caps for Wales at under-21 level.
Managerial career
Gibson has had several spells with Prestatyn Town (2007–2011, 2012–2018, 2018–2020). He then managed Flint Town United (2020–2022) and Connah’s Quay Nomads (2022–2024). In January 2025 he became manager of Wealdstone, leaving the role in May 2025. In October 2025 he joined Altrincham as interim manager after the dismissal of Phil Parkinson, and was appointed permanently in November 2025.
