Ndurumu River (Akanyaru)
The Ndurumu River, known in French as Rivière Ndurumu, is a river in Burundi. It flows westward through Kirundo and Ngozi provinces and joins the Akanyaru River on the border with Rwanda.
Course
- The river rises in the Ntega and Vumbi communes of Kirundo Province.
- It generally travels west-southwest, turning west and then northwest near the Ndurumu Hydroelectric Power Station.
- It empties into the Akanyaru River in Ngozi Province’s Marangara and Kiremba/Marangara areas.
Size and location
- Length: about 22 km
- Basin size: roughly 145 square kilometers
- Mouth: Akanyaru River
Environment

Hydroelectricity
- As of June 2024, the nearby Marangara Hydroelectric Power Station was at a standstill.
