Astylus is a group of beetles in the family Melyridae. There are more than 110 species in Astylus, found mainly in Central and South America. One species, Astylus atromaculatus, is known as the spotted maize beetle. It is native to Argentina and nearby countries but has been accidentally introduced to warmer parts of South Africa, where it is now an invasive crop pest.
