Vincent Korda
Vincent Korda (22 June 1897 – 4 January 1979) was a Hungarian-born artist and art director. He was born in Pusztatúrpásztó, Austria-Hungary (now part of Túrkeve, Hungary). From 1918 to 1921 he lived and worked at the Nagybánya artists’ colony, and he then worked as an artist in Paris and Cagnes-sur-Mer from 1923 to 1933. He became an art director in 1931 and settled in Britain in 1933. He was the younger brother of Alexander Korda and Zoltan Korda.
Korda was nominated for four Academy Awards and won one, for Best Art Direction. He died in Chelsea, London, England. He was married twice: first to Gertrude Musgrove (1933–1942, divorced) and then to Leila Rubin (née Hyde) (married 1947; died 1972). He had four children, including writer and editor Michael Korda, and he was the grandfather of Chris Korda.
