Potassium hexacyanochromate(III) is an inorganic salt with the formula K3[Cr(CN)6]. It consists of three potassium ions and the [Cr(CN)6]3− anion. The compound forms vivid yellow, air-stable crystals and is paramagnetic. It is isomorphous with potassium ferricyanide and is prepared by reacting chromium(III) salts with potassium cyanide (KCN). On reduction, it yields chromium(II) and chromium(0) derivatives, [Cr(CN)6]4− and [Cr(CN)6]6−, respectively. Typical properties include a molar mass of about 325.4 g/mol, density around 1.71 g/cm3, and water solubility of roughly 31 g per 100 mL at 20 °C.
