Nardini (grappa)

Nardini is an Italian grappa produced and bottled in Bassano del Grappa, in northeastern Italy, since 1779. The company runs two distilleries and a bottling facility. It accounts for about 25% of the market and makes around 4 million bottles each year, exported to China, Australia, the United States and Japan.

Founder Bortolo Nardini bought an inn in April 1779 at the eastern entrance of the Bassano bridge on the Brenta river. The inn became Grapperia Nardini, well placed for access to water for distillation and for selling to nearby markets, especially Venice. Grappa from Nardini became popular with locals and traveling businesspeople.

The Grapperia Nardini remains in its original state and is part of Italy’s Association of Historical Places. In 2004, celebrating 225 years, the company unveiled Bolle, designed by Massimiliano Fuksas. The distillery is part of Les Hénokiens, a global club of long-standing family firms. Today the company is run by Giuseppe, Cristina, Angelo, Antonio and Leonardo Nardini.
