Safiath, born Safia Aminami Issoufou Oumarou on 15 April 1982 in Khartoum, Sudan, is a Nigerien singer, rapper and songwriter. She is of Tuareg and Kanuri heritage, with a Sudanese mother and a Nigerien father. She studied economics and banking in Morocco, joined a salsa group in Rabat where she played guitar, and then returned to Niger to pursue music full-time. She is the lead singer of the rap group Kaidan Gaskiya but has worked in many genres. Safiath has represented Niger in international events, including the 2013 Jeux de la Francophonie in Nice, and has collaborated with artists from other African countries. She writes songs in French, Hausa, Zarma and Tamasheq, often addressing social issues and children's rights to raise awareness among young people. She is concerned about the influence of foreign music on Nigerien rap, especially French and American styles. She is married to rapper Phéno, and they have a child.
