Kasturi Srinivasan
Kasturi Srinivasan (7 August 1887 – 21 June 1959) was an Indian journalist and businessman. He was the eldest son of S. Kasturi Ranga Iyengar. Born in Kumbakonam, Madras Presidency, he studied at Presidency College, Madras and joined The Hindu, the family newspaper, early in his career. After his father’s death in 1923, he became Managing Director, with S. Rangaswami Iyengar as Chief Editor. In February 1934, he became Chief Editor and led The Hindu until his death in 1959. He was a founder-Chairman of the Press Trust of India and received the Padma Bhushan in 1956. In 1969, he translated the Tirukkural into English in verse form. He married Komala Valli and had four children: S. Radha, S. Sembagavalli, S. Parthasarathy, and S. Rangarajan. His son Parthasarathy was Publisher of The Hindu and died at 33; Rangarajan went on to become an international dog judge and film producer.
