NGC 6122
NGC 6122 is a spiral galaxy about 484 million light-years away in the constellation Corona Borealis. It is classified as type Sb and has a diameter of about 211,000 light-years. The galaxy’s light has a redshift of 0.03347, it shines at an apparent magnitude of around 14.6, and its apparent size is about 1.096 by 0.257 arcminutes. Also known as PGC 57858, LEDA 57858, and MCG+06-36-032, it was discovered on May 6, 1886 by Guillaume Bigourdan. NGC 6122 shows little star formation and does not host an active galactic nucleus. It has hosted one supernova, SN 2003ge, discovered on June 21, 2003 by Tim Puckett and Alex Langoussis. The supernova was located about 8.8 arcseconds west and 0.1 arcseconds north of the galaxy’s nucleus and was a Type Ia.
