N-Desmethylenzalutamide

N-Desmethylenzalutamide is a nonsteroidal antiandrogen (NSAA) and the major metabolite of enzalutamide, a drug used to treat metastatic prostate cancer. It has similar anti-cancer activity to enzalutamide and reaches comparable blood levels during treatment.

In the body, it is formed in the liver from enzalutamide by the enzymes CYP2C8 and CYP3A4. It is highly bound to blood proteins (about 95%).

Pharmacokinetics: It has a longer terminal half-life than enzalutamide—about 7.8 days (enzalutamide’s is about 5.8 days).

Also known as desmethylenzalutamide or norenzalutamide.
