Mozambique national cricket team
The Mozambique national cricket team is the men's team that represents Mozambique in international cricket. It is run by the Mozambican Cricket Association, which joined the International Cricket Council (ICC) as an affiliate member in 2003 and became an associate member in 2017. Mozambique is also part of the Africa Cricket Association.
The team has competed in regional and World Cup qualifying events, including the World Cricket League Africa Region, the Cricket World Cup qualification pathway, and the ICC Africa Twenty20 Championship.
Mozambique’s international debut came in 2004 in the African Affiliates Championship, where they finished 6th after beating Rwanda. They have since played in Africa’s 50-over leagues, including Division Two in Tanzania, facing teams such as Botswana, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Zambia.
In 2018 the ICC granted full Twenty20 International (T20I) status to all members, so since 1 January 2019, Mozambique’s matches against other ICC members in T20 format are official T20Is. Mozambique played its first T20I on 6 November 2019 against Malawi in Lilongwe, losing a closely fought game.
As of 14 September 2025, Mozambique has played 43 T20Is, with 18 wins, 22 losses, 1 tie and 2 no results. The team’s T20I ranking is 71st, with a best-ever ranking of 55th achieved on 7 May 2023. The captain is Filipe Cossa.
The team also competes in regional qualifiers for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, such as the Africa Sub-regional Qualifier. For current players and match lists, official records and selector lists provide the latest details.
