Katy Brand
Katy Brand, born Katherine Frances Brand on 13 January 1979 in Buckinghamshire, England, is an English actress, comedian and writer. She studied theology at Keble College, Oxford, where she began writing and performing comedy. After working in television production for five years, she started performing stand-up and gained attention at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2005. She is best known for Katy Brand's Big Ass Show on ITV2 and Comedy Lab Slap on Channel 4, and for Mouth Trap, a BBC Radio 4 series she made with her friend Katherine Parkinson.
Her career has included appearances on various TV shows and events, such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, and Let's Dance for Sport Relief. She hosted the Penguin Podcast until 2021 and has published several works: the novel Brenda Monk is Funny (2014), the play 3Women (2018), the book I Carried a Watermelon (2019), and the memoir Practically Perfect (2020). In the West End, she played Miss Hedge in Everybody's Talking About Jamie (2020) and wrote the comedy film Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2021). Brand won Celebrity Mastermind in 2021 and has received award nominations including Best Female Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards (2008) and nominations for the British Independent Film Awards for Leo Grande.
