Motutui Island is a small tidal island in New Zealand’s Bay of Islands. It lies about 10 kilometres north of Russell, near Howe Point on Cape Wiwki along the Purepua Peninsula. The island’s highest point is about 63 metres (207 feet) above sea level. The name comes from Māori: motu means island, and tui may refer to the Tūī bird or be part of the local name.
